Some people see change as negative or unsettling. I see change as exciting and fun. For me it’s like an adventure. The last few years in business have been like that overseas trip you take. You start off with a plan – or, if you’re like me, a very loose plan of what you want to do. It’s about getting out of the hotel room and discovering those wonderful secrets only the locals know. It’s about finding new opportunities by talking to the locals and creating incredible memories, experiences, and stories to share with friends and family.
Whether I am travelling overseas or within Australia, there is one thing I look out for: how people interact in business. I love to people watch – looking at body language, listening to how people are spoken to by salespeople, and seeing whether businesses are creating an experience for their clients. I guess you can say it’s in my blood. I just love people, customer service, and making money. Are these mutually exclusive? What most businesses don’t understand is that there’s a very simple formula: if you build great rapport with your clients, give them an experience they will never forget, and give them significance and connection, then they will be happy to give you their money. It’s really that simple!
